The analog part has no modifications or additional parameters but the sequencer is much more versatile and has shuffle. The unit can be synched not only to a DIN Sync signal but also to a MIDI Clock.

Posted on July 15, 2010 | No CommentsThe XBase888 is the latest grand thing designed by Juergen Michaelis and the final answer to those drummachines with a feel of analog that swam thru the market over the last few years. the XBase 888 leaves Elektrons sitting in the corner because they haven't got the round bump of the X-Base Bassdrum. The Bassdrum and Toms got new envelopes and also the Snare has been renewed. Now the Snare can easily handle metallic sounds. We can recommend the XBase 888 to all electronic drums enthusiasts!

Unlike the Sideman, it's a "modern" primitive device--with plenty of inputs, outputs, and flexibility.
Even though it has only four drum sounds -- two tunable drums, a tunable "snare" drum (harder sounding than the others), and a cymbal -- control voltage inputs give great flexibility.

MFB 522 Drum Computer

The tiny controls for the many parameters take some time getting used to, but as far as sound is concerned the unit is truly brilliant. Bassdrum, Clap and Toms/Conga can be programmed in two or three variations per pattern. Finally the price makes this unit a no-brainer.
