Christian Guenther XR-1s Ring Modulator
Posted on September 14, 2010 | No CommentsBuilt by Berlin artist Christian Günther, the XR-1s is a hand-made analog effect unit in a very nice rugged desktop case. It consists of a high-quality ring modulator with integrated sine/triangle oscillator, a pre-amp and a LFO.
The unit is housed in a beautiful, hand made polished metal case with etched lettering.

Sounds really nice and fuzzy from soft to hard. A bit dry and in a postive way amputated - kills the overtones a little bit and makes the distortion sounding more round - a solid little box in a pure metal case and a nice sticker on it - a beauty on its own
Runs on a 9v battery, 1/4" in & output.

It allows for sick, chopped sounds that can resemble a bit crusher. You can easily and quickly blend from thick, long delays to extremely short pulses.
Inputs and outputs for control voltages make it possible to combine the BD101 with other (KOMA-) pedals but of course also with a modular synthesizer! An infrared motion sensor allows for gestical control of parameters.

Moog Moogerfooger MF-103 12-stage Phaser

The 6-stage mode has 3 notches in the frequency spectrum while the 12-stage version has six of them. Both modes have distinct differences in sound.
