  5. ACL - Discrete Core Ladder VCF

Advanced low-pass design – The Discrete Core Ladder VCF shines with crisp sound, a very low noise-floor and a multitude of technical gimmicks. The module features a three-channel input mixer with saturation capabilities. Four outputs provide audio material filtered with -6 dB, -12 dB, -18 dB and -24 dB edge steepness. Each connector is phase-shifted by 90 degrees compared to the prior socket. Cutoff and resonance are voltage controllable. While self-oscillating, the filter can be played chromatically. This means, that the Discrete Core Ladder VCF is usable as a quadrature VCO as well. Thanks to a boost knob, the bass fundament can be kept intact at high resonance settings. A high-pass filter in the feedback path allows users to alter the resonance behavior. Compared to Moog’s classic Ladder design, the sound of the ACL circuit is considerably rougher. Saturation effects lead to roaring results. Tip: Be sure to try out filter FM patches!

  7. ACL - Gate Mix

The Gate Mix is composed of four channels. Each features a level potentiometer and a mute stage. The latter can be controlled via a switch or a gate input. Besides the master connector, there are two additional outputs, which emit a mixture of channel one and two respectively three and four. Therefore, it is not only possible to use the module as one four channel mixer, but also as two mixers with two channels each.
Utilizing the circuit’s Aux input, users are able to add a fifth signal to the mix. This channel doesn’t offer level or mute options, though.

  8. ACL - VC Panning Amplifier

Two channel audio amplifier with stereo capabilities – The VC Panning Amplifier offers two signal paths, each comes equipped with a level attenuator at the input, an exponential gain stage and a level CV input. Results can be shifted within the stereo field. – Either manually or via another control voltage port. A third gain stage allows users to adjust the level of both channels together. Alternatively to stereo operation, it is also possible to employ the amplifier as a dual mono processor.  VC Panning Amplifier’s built-quality and sound are excellent. It delivers full-blooded, clearly analog results with minimal crosstalk and noise.

  9. ACL - Variable Sync VCO

ACL’s Variable Sync VCO is an analog oscillator with ramp-core design. The module produces five waveforms, which are emitted via individual outputs. A three-way switch allows users to roughly set the frequency range. For precise fine adjustments, there is a ten-turn potentiometer. In addition to the obligatory 1V / octave jack, the Variable Sync VCO features one linear and two exponential FM inputs with attenuators. The pulse width can be modulated as well. A voltage-controlled threshold parameter in the module’s sync channel makes it possible to blend from deactivated to soft and finally hard synchronization.
In use, the Variable Sync VCO shines with voluminous sound reminiscent of classic keyboard synthesizers. The sine waveform is exceptionally clean. Slight pulse width modulations lead to extremely fat results. Linear FM modulations sound very full and wet. The sync function can generate a wide range of harmonics structures thanks to the variable threshold.

  10. ACL - VC Dual Delay

The VC Dual Delay is a two-channel echo effect based on the popular Princeton PT-2399 chip. Its most important feature is a feedback path equipped with high-pass and low-pass filters, which can be broken at two points to add external audio processors. Other important features include the voltage-controlled delay time, positive and negative feedback as well as cross-routing options. The echo channels can work in parallel or in serial. Thanks to normalizations, the module is perfectly suited for processing stereo material. In short: The VC Dual Delay is an excellent partner for creating classic as well as innovative, metallic echo and modulation effects.

  11. ACL - M/S Matrix

The M/S Matrix module converts stereo material with left and right channel into the M/S format. – And vice versa. This allows users to transform conventional stereo signals into M/S material, process mid and side separately via external modules and then convert them back again. All inputs are equipped with volume controls, meaning any level changes occuring during editing can be easily compensated for. Typical examples of M/S processing are the delicate attenuation of the mid signal’s high frequencies via an equalizer or filtering low frequencies out of the sideband. - Maybe plus addition of gentle modulation effects. In combination, these techniques lead to a very wide, atmospheric stereo image. Of course, the M/S Matrix can be used for tons of other applications as well. How about a bitcrusher plus a delay only on the sideband, for example? – Just let your imagination run wild!

  12. ACL - QLFO

Modulator and more – The QLFO is a voltage-controlled quadrature oscillator. The module produces four sine waves, each with a 90 degree phase shift. Thanks to a wide frequency range and a 1V/octave input, the circuit can not only be used for modulations, but also as an audio generator. Very useful, especially for FM experiments!

  13. ACL - Dual State Variable VCF

The Dual State Variable VCF consists of two multimode filters with high-pass, band-pass, notch and low-pass outputs. The circuits feature an edge steepness of -12 dB per octave. Routing options allow serial or parallel connection. Thanks to normalizations and a total of three cutoff potentiometers, stereo material can be processed as comfortably as mono signals. Furthermore, a well-known feature from the Oberheim SEM synthesizer was implemented in the Dual State Variable VCF: The notch characteristic can be weighted more to the high-pass or low-pass side.
The basic character of the Dual State Variable VCF is rather soft, yet full-bodied. The resonance sounds extraordinarily rich and wet, even high values never sound all too harsh. While self-oscillating, the filters can be played like sine oscillators. By modulating both circuits in opposite direction, users are able to achieve interesting stereo effects.
