Mungo Enterprises - p0 Percussion

The p0 is a world class drum generator, which uses physical modeling to create sound. Specialties of the circuit are metallic instruments like hi-hats or cymbals. However, it is also possible to create bongos, toms and even kicks. Besides that, thanks to a clever parameter selection, the module can generate lots of extraordinary, partly psychedelic sounds. Control voltage inputs allow musicians to compose interesting rhythms with just one p0.

The p0 can be played using its trigger and velocity inputs or a button on the front panel. By twiddling with the knobs of the module, it is possible to vary the size and decay of the simulated percussion instrument. Furthermore, the user can determine where exactly the cymbal, hi-hat, drum membrane, et cetera is hit. - Rather in the middle or on the side? A highly relevant, yet often neglected factor in sound design. All mentioned parameters come with dedicated control voltage inputs plus attenuators.

To fine tune sounds of the p0, the excitation signal, in other words the simulated strike hitting the instrument, can be varied in its intensity. Furthermore, it is possible to set individual size and decay values for the central area of the virtual drum. This is useful to create more bulgy results and for sounds that fade out in two stages. Beside the main output, there’s also a socket where the strike impulse can be tapped off individually.

With the optional Zoom expander module you can use all potentiometers (i.e. the parameter controls and the CV attenuators) of the Mungo modules with coarse, normal or very fine resolution. That is great for fine tuning frequencies or delay times. No matter how many Mungo modules you own, you need just one Zoom module.
